The Child Planet Center

A future inner-urban early childcare center that exploring a new 21st-century early childhood education style through multisensory environmental design and universal design. This interior design intends to create a small universe, designed for children's play and exploration, where each child is given the opportunity to find and know their own little planet and to feel inviting and not scary or overwhelming when they leave home for the first time.

Project brief

“On one star, one planet, my planet, the Earth, there was a little prince to be comforted. “
― Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, The Little Prince

This interior design is inspired by the Little Prince, a book that describes the Little Prince’s planet and his growth during his journey to visit each planet. In the children’s space, the designers believe that each child has their own little planet in their mind, with things their loves, people or objects to promote his growth, and new friends to visit. The Childcare Center is a small microcosm in the world of the community, a “world in the world” where children meet new friends, get an education, and build self-awareness before entering school.

The interior design also strives to transform the traditional school landscape, blurring boundaries, and allowing for more collaborative interactions between people. The universal accessibility design to make seamless transitions between spaces helps each child better access preschool resources on an equal footing.
